Loop Smith Saddlebag
Privacy policy · last updated 8 September 2026
Saddlebag is a small Android app that copies motorcycle routes (GPX files) from your phone onto a Garmin zūmo over a USB cable. It is the companion of loopsmith.eu, a personal, non-commercial trip planner. There are no ads, no analytics and no trackers in the app.
In short: the app only handles the routes you choose to send. If you sign in, it keeps your Google name, email address and profile picture on the phone to show who is signed in. Nothing is sold or shared with anyone.
What the app handles
- Route files. GPX files you pick from your phone, open from another app, or download from loopsmith.eu are stored temporarily in the app's private cache while they are sent to the Garmin, then removed.
- Your Garmin. With your permission the app talks to the connected zūmo over USB, reads its storage layout to find the GPX folder, and writes the route files there. It reads nothing else from the device and never deletes files it did not write.
- Loop Smith account (optional). If you sign in with Google, the app receives your name, email address and profile picture from Google and exchanges the Google sign-in for a Loop Smith session so it can list your trips from loopsmith.eu. These are stored encrypted on the phone and removed when you sign out. The same account rules as on loopsmith.eu apply.
- Share links. Opening a public Loop Smith share link fetches that trip's routes from loopsmith.eu. No account is needed.
- Debug log. The app keeps a short technical log on the phone (device model, transfer steps, errors) to help diagnose a failed transfer. It leaves the phone only if you choose to copy and share it.
What the app does not do
- No advertising, analytics, crash reporting or tracking SDKs.
- No location access. The routes are files; the app never uses your phone's position.
- No data is sold, and none is shared with third parties. The only servers the app talks to are loopsmith.eu and Google's sign-in service.
Deleting your data
Signing out removes the account details from the phone. Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored. Your Loop Smith account and trips live on loopsmith.eu; you can delete them there.
